Hello all, and welcome back to NKV!

It's been a while so many people might not be very familiar on how to play the game. The following is a short guide to help you on your way to becoming the strongest ninja in the land.
(More comprehensive guides will be coming later. So if the information here doesn't answer your question, feel free to ask in game!)

Character Creation:

Before you start training in the game, you have to get passed the first barrier of entry, the login screen. It will look like this:

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Here is where you will choose how your character is set up.
The most important factors are

  • Base skin (What your character looks like)
  • Village (Where your character is born)
  • Element (What affinity your character can use)
  • Clan (What clan moves your character can use.) *Clans were recently redone so what may or may not have worked in the past will be different now! Feel free to explore new options!

Once you have decided on these things, you are ready to begin your journey into NKV!

Getting Started:

Below are a list of a few things you ought to do before you do anything else after creating your character.

  • Before you do ANYTHING please make sure you buy weights from the Sales NPC

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
(He is the one on the far left) *Weights will increase your Log training immensely. You lose money when you die so please be careful about going out of your village before you are ready, because if you haven't bought weights by then, you'll make the game considerably harder for yourself!

  • Once you have bought weights you should hit your meditate verb in the training tab before heading over to participate in the Genin Exam.

*Meditate increases both health and chakra at intervals, if you don't hit meditate you will continue to die to NPC. Try to meditate any time you aren't doing anything important.

  • Once you have passed the Genin Exam and talked to iruka, it's time for you to become a Chuunin! First by equipping your weights, you should head over to one of the many training areas.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

This one that's located in every village academy is perfect for getting to know your new village members!

  • Once you have been sufficiently trained by clicking the Log Train verb in the training tab, (You'll know because the game will prevent you from training any further.) You are eligible for the Chuunin exam!

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
You will however have to wait until the Chuunin exam is being hosted. (Try asking a GM or a Kage to host one!)
*If you aren't particularly busy you can try and find your clan leader NPC and have them show you some of their Jutsu to help you in the Chuunin Exam.
**If the Chuunin Exam is being hosted but you can not take it, try relogging!

  • Once you have passed the first part of the Chuunin Exam you will be sent to an arena filled with both players and NPC. You can start with either a Heaven or an Earth scroll in your inventory. It is up to you to find your counterpart scroll before you die! You can take them off of NPC and other players.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

  • Once you have found your counterpart scroll, head to the middle of the arena with both scrolls and go through the door anko is standing by. This will automatically rank you up to Chuunin!

  • Once you have ranked up to Chuunin the process to getting Jounin is fairly simple: You must,
1.) Cap out your Chuunin stats and go get 100 kills for Special Jounin.
2.) If you reside in one of the 5 main villages, after getting Special Jounin and capping out your stats. Go talk to your Village Elder and they will give you a Letter which you must give to the other 4 villages before returning to your village.

*If you reside in the Rain or Sound Village, once you cap Special Jounin, go out and get 500 kills and talk to either Orochimaru (in sound) or Hanzo (in rain)

Once you have completed all of these steps, you should be a Jounin. Stat caps will no longer have any effect on your rank and you are free to do as you please!

General Tips:

After getting Jounin you should try to master any clan Jutsu you might have recently acquired. Every clan has been redone to allow for more versatility so make sure you're paying attention to what your Clan Leaders tell you.

A Map of the game is available in game. Just head to your Commands Tab and press "View World Map"
I'll leave it here as well for reference.

When making a character for the first time, If you want to increase your screen size to help you make your way around better, you can go to the Commands Tab and click "Help" -> Screen Size -> 10. Once you do that you can manually hit "Save" in the Commands Tab and your screen size should stay the same for the duration of that character!

If you aren't sure whether or not you are actually log training, you can find "Hide Log Training" in the Commands Tab. Once turned on, your log training hits will be shown in your ooc window.

If you want to ask a question but are scared of being made fun of in OOC by Joshua or Ginji, you can go to the Commands Tab and click Villagy Say to only ask the people in your village.

Using "Change Picture" in the Commands Tab will help you add more flair to your character by letting you choose a custom picture for you when you talk to people around you and in your village. The same thing can be done with "Add Icon." *If you add an icon please make sure it's appropriate. **Also make sure it fits the Base Icon of NKV.

HAPPY GAMING EVERYONE!
